Senator Monday Okpebholo, the Governor of Edo State, has taken significant steps to bring development to the community of the late Nigerian anti-colonial and pro-democracy activist, Chief Anthony Enahoro.

During his visit to the pro-democracy activist community, Onewa in Esan North East LGA, Senator Okpebholo inspected ongoing projects, including the construction and rehabilitation of key infrastructures, such as the long-abandoned community road. This development, which has been neglected for decades by previous governments, marks a new chapter for the indigenes and residents of the community.

Senator Okpebholo expressed his commitment to ensuring that the community, which has contributed immensely to the struggle for Nigeria’s democracy, receives the attention and development it deserves. The road project, among others, reflects his administration's focus on bridging the gaps in infrastructure and addressing the needs of underserved areas across the state.

By bringing development to Chief Enahoro's community, Senator Okpebholo has honored the late activist’s legacy and reaffirmed his dedication to improving the living conditions of all Edo State citizens, ensuring progress, unity, and prosperity in every corner of the state.

Chief Anthony Eromosele Enahoro CFR, was one of Nigeria's formost anti-colonial and pro-democracy unapologetic activist.

In 1953, Chief Enahoro became the first to move the motion for Nigeria's independence which was eventually granted in 1960, after several political setbacks and defeats in the parliament.

Chief Enahoro has been regarded by academics and many Nigerians, as the "Father of Nigeria State."
