*APC-USA National Youth Leader, Hon. Oyakhilome Bello, Calls for Nigeria’s Unity Amid Remarks Attributed to U.S. President Donald Trump*
The APC-USA National Youth Leader, Hon. Oyakhilome Bello, has called for calm, unity, and national solidarity following comments attributed to United States President, Donald J. Trump, suggesting the deployment of U.S. war authorities to Nigeria.
Hon. Bello firmly maintained that Nigeria is a sovereign nation with strong democratic institutions and does not require foreign interference in its internal affairs. He noted that there is no religious war or genocide taking place in Nigeria, stressing that conflicts in certain regions affect citizens of all faiths and ethnicities. According to him, Nigeria’s challenges should never be turned into propaganda tools or political weapons. He appealed to Nigerians at home and in the diaspora to remain united, patriotic, and committed to peaceful coexistence.
Nigeria is bigger than her challenges. We are a diverse and resilient nation. What we need is cooperation, not interference. This is a time to strengthen our unity, not create panic or spread falsehood,” Hon. Bello stated.
He also commended President Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu for his ongoing reforms and strategic investments in the nation’s security architecture. He explained that under the Tinubu-led administration, the security forces have received better state support, improved morale, enhanced technology, and stronger coordination. “President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has shown commitment to defeating insecurity. Our military and security agencies are working day and night to secure our nation. What they need from us is support, not foreign intimidation,” he added.
Hon. Bello further revealed that his recent meeting with Rep. Segun Adeyina, a Democratic member of the Georgia House of Representatives, was held strictly in the interest of Nigeria and to strengthen diplomatic understanding between both countries. He stated that their discussion focused on safeguarding Nigeria’s image globally, enhancing bilateral cooperation, improving development partnerships, promoting peaceful dialogue, and countering misinformation that can harm diplomatic ties.
According to him, both leaders agreed that the U.S.Nigeria relationship remains strong and rooted in mutual respect. Rep. Adeyina emphasized that the United States sees Nigeria as a partner, not an enemy, and that any claim of U.S. military invasion is unrealistic, unfounded, and contrary to international diplomatic principles. Bello stated that this engagement is a clear sign that Nigerian diaspora leaders are working tirelessly to protect Nigeria’s global reputation and encourage constructive diplomacy, rather than tension.
He also expressed confidence that the upcoming meeting between President Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu and President Donald Trump will provide room for deeper clarity, mutual understanding, and stronger diplomatic cooperation. According to him, Nigeria and the United States do not need fear or hostility, but partnership, dialogue, and respect. “President Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu is a respected global statesman. His planned meeting with President Donald Trump will create room for better understanding, clearer communication, and stronger diplomatic cooperation. Nigeria and the U.S. do not need hostility they need partnership and understanding,” Bello affirmed.
Hon. Bello praised the Nigerian armed forces, security agencies, and communities working daily to restore peace in affected areas, and encouraged the international community to support Nigeria through diplomacy, economic cooperation, and development programs rather than threats or sensational statements. He further urged media organizations and global observers to rely on factual and verified information, noting that exaggeration and negative propaganda only damage Nigeria’s image.
Nigeria remains strong. Nigeria remains united. Nigeria remains sovereign. Our challenges do not define us our strength, resilience, and unity do.
