EDOHERMA PEFRI

The agency seems to be on a vindictive mission as she attempted to revoke existing registrations of all healthcare facilities already registered by the State previously by the Ministry of health. Again is there any synergy between EDOHERMA and the professional associations❓

*CLARIFICATION ON EDOHERMA'S STATUTORY MANDATE AND REVALIDATION EXERCISE*

It has come to our attention that certain comments circulating in the public space may create an inaccurate impression of the activities and mandate of the Edo State Healthcare Regulation and Monitoring Agency (EDOHERMA).

For the avoidance of doubt, EDOHERMA is carrying out its statutory responsibilities strictly in accordance with the provisions of the Edo State Healthcare Regulation and Monitoring Agency Law, 2025. The Agency remains committed to promoting healthcare quality, patient safety, regulatory compliance, and the protection of lives across Edo State.

Contrary to suggestions that EDOHERMA is acting vindictively or targeting any group, the Agency is actively implementing its legal mandate to regulate healthcare services and combat quackery through lawful and transparent processes. EDOHERMA maintains cordial and productive relationships with professional associations and healthcare stakeholders across the State. This collaborative relationship was clearly demonstrated during the Emergency Preparedness and Oxygen Readiness Training organized by EDOHERMA on 19 June 2026, which was attended and supported by various professional bodies and healthcare stakeholders. Present was ANPMP, NANNM, AMLSN, NMA, NDA, AGPNP and more.

The allegation that EDOHERMA is victimising healthcare providers is unfounded. We respectfully urge individuals making such assertions to provide verifiable evidence. EDOHERMA remains open to constructive engagement and dialogue with all stakeholders.

Furthermore, EDOHERMA has not revoked any licence previously issued by the Ministry of Health. Rather, the Agency is implementing the transition provisions of the EDOHERMA Law, which transferred healthcare facility regulation and monitoring responsibilities to EDOHERMA.

As clearly provided under Section 33 of the Edo State Healthcare Regulation and Monitoring Agency Law, 2025, all healthcare facilities previously registered by the Ministry of Health are required to undergo revalidation with EDOHERMA. Revalidation is a statutory process intended to establish an accurate database of healthcare facilities, verify compliance with current regulatory standards, enhance patient safety, and ensure that healthcare services are delivered in accordance with applicable laws and best practices.

The revalidation exercise is therefore not a revocation of existing licences but a lawful transition process provided for by law.

EDOHERMA remains committed to working collaboratively with professional associations, healthcare facility owners, healthcare workers, development partners, and relevant government institutions to strengthen healthcare standards and improve health outcomes for the people of Edo State.

The Agency's focus remains clear: protecting Edo lives through effective regulation, monitoring, and enforcement.
