EDOHERMA CEO Pays Courtesy Visit to Edo State Commissioner of Police to Strengthen Healthcare Regulation and Enforcement Collaboration

The Chief Executive Officer of the Edo Health Regulation and Monitoring Agency (EDOHERMA), Dr. Adesuwa Urhoghide-Edigin, paid a formal courtesy visit to the Edo State Commissioner of Police in his office in Benin City. The visit was aimed at ensuring reinforced collaboration and strengthening law enforcement partnerships across the state.

During the strategic meeting, Dr. Urhoghide highlighted that EDOHERMA is a new agency established by law under the leadership of the Executive Governor of Edo State, Sen. Monday Okpebholo, with the explicit mandate to regulate and monitor healthcare facilities across Edo State.

Addressing the Commissioner, the CEO emphasized the historical relationship between the agency and the police force, noting that the visit was vital to continue and deepen this partnership. The CEO explained that robust law enforcement support is essential to ensure that healthcare services maintain standard requirements and that established guidelines are strictly adhered to by all practitioners. Expressing deep gratitude for the command's ongoing support, the CEO described EDOHERMA as the "health police" and reaffirmed its status as the only statutory regulatory body empowered by law to handle these specific oversight responsibilities in Edo State.

The Edo State Commissioner of Police, Monday Agbonika, warmly welcomed the EDOHERMA delegation to the Nigeria Police Force, Edo State Command, expressing strong enthusiasm for the collaborative visit. Responding to the agency's goals, the Commissioner gave an unreserved commitment to the delegation, explicitly stating that when it comes to the enforcement of healthcare regulations and standard guidelines, EDOHERMA has the full support of the police command.

Reflecting on his tenure, the Commissioner shared a personal sentiment, noting that he has effectively been adopted as a son of Edo State, even jokingly adding that he has adopted the Benin name “Osaro.” He acknowledged that while the command faced notable challenges when his team initially arrived, Edo State is now in a much better position because everyone works together as a team.

The highlight of the visit was the presentation of a special gift to the EDOHERMA CEO by the Commissioner of Police, symbolizing the deepened mutual respect and solidifying the partnership between the regulatory agency and the law enforcement command.

The meeting concluded on a high note, with both parties reaffirming their dedication to teamwork and mutual support to safeguard public health across Edo State.
