EDOHERMA CEO PAYS A VISIT TO EIRS CHAIRMAN, EMPHASISES TRANSPARENCY AND DIGITAL REVENUE COLLECTION

The Chief Executive Officer of the Edo State Healthcare Regulation and Monitoring Agency (EDOHERMA), Dr. Adesuwa Urhoghide-Edigin, paid a visit to the Executive Chairman of the Edo State Internal Revenue Service (EIRS) to strengthen collaboration and foster a productive working relationship between the two agencies.

The meeting focused on enhancing transparency in revenue administration, improving Internally Generated Revenue (IGR) payment systems, and strengthening collaboration to support efficient revenue collection for Edo State. Discussions also explored practical strategies for streamlining IGR payments and ensuring greater accountability through digital payment platforms.

Dr. Urhoghide emphasized that transparency and integrity must remain at the heart of public financial management, reaffirming her commitment to the values that have defined her public service career. She stressed that EDOHERMA is committed to supporting the Edo State Government's SHINE Agenda by ensuring that all statutory revenues generated by the Agency are managed in a transparent and accountable manner.

The CEO further advocated that all IGR payments should eliminate cash transactions and strengthen public confidence in the revenue collection process. She noted that the future of public revenue administration lies in digital payment systems, adding that this principle has been integrated into the design of the EDOHERMA digital portal, which is being developed to support end-to-end online payments, regulatory processes, and real-time accountability.

In his remarks, the Executive Chairman of EIRS, Mr. John Odior warmly welcomed the EDOHERMA delegation and commended the Agency's commitment to accountability and innovation. He expressed strong agreement with the CEO's position on transparency and digital transformation.

Mr. Odior also emphasized the importance of strengthening mechanisms to ensure that Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs) fully comply with their statutory IGR obligations. He noted that improving accountability among MDAs is essential to enhancing the State's revenue performance and reaffirmed EIRS' commitment to working closely with all MDAs to develop efficient, technology-driven revenue collection systems.

The meeting concluded with both agencies reaffirming their commitment to a strong institutional partnership built on transparency, accountability, digital innovation, and effective collaboration in support of the Edo State Government's SHINE Agenda and sustainable development objectives.
