ABIA @ 35 A JOURNEY OF HISTORY, HOPE, UNITY AND PROGRESS
ABIA @ 35 A JOURNEY OF HISTORY, HOPE, UNITY AND PROGRESS
On this historic and remarkable occasion of the 35th Anniversary of the creation of Abia State, I, Comrade Mark Anthony Chinedu (Hon. Senator), with immense pride and profound gratitude, join my principal and leader, Dr. Uchechukwu Sampson Ogah, former Minister of State for Mines and Steel Development, Founder and President of Masters Energy Group, together with the good people of Abia State, to celebrate our beloved God’s Own State.
Abia State was created on 27 August 1991 by the Federal Military Government under the administration of General Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida, carved out of the former Imo State. Since its creation, Abia has grown from a newly established state into a land of remarkable people, extraordinary enterprise, rich culture, intellectual excellence and immense economic potential.
For 35 years, the story of Abia has been a story of resilience. It is the story of men and women who have continued to build, trade, innovate, educate, create and contribute to the development of Nigeria despite the challenges of time. From Aba, the commercial and entrepreneurial heartbeat of the state, to Umuahia, our administrative capital, Abia has remained a state blessed with human capital and an indomitable spirit.
As we commemorate this milestone, we must acknowledge that the journey of development is continuous. Every administration has contributed its chapter to the Abia story, and every generation has a responsibility to protect, improve and advance the inheritance entrusted to it.
I particularly acknowledge the administration of our Governor, Dr. Alex Chioma Otti, whose leadership, vision and development agenda have, in my considered view, renewed optimism among many Abians. Across different sectors, many citizens are expressing renewed confidence that government can deliver visible infrastructure, improve public institutions and create an environment where the dignity and potential of the Abia people can flourish.
For many Abians, the present moment represents an important chapter in our democratic journey a period in which the impact of government is increasingly being measured through tangible projects, institutional reforms and the quality of services delivered to the people. It is my sincere hope that this spirit of accountability, development and service will continue beyond every administration and become a permanent feature of governance in Abia State.
I therefore join progressive and patriotic Abians across the state and beyond to celebrate our dear God’s Own State at 35.
May the next 35 years bring even greater prosperity, peace, unity, investment, innovation, employment opportunities, quality education, improved healthcare, stronger institutions and a better standard of living for every Abian.
May Abia continue to produce leaders who place the interests of the people above personal considerations; leaders with vision, courage, competence, integrity and an enduring commitment to public service.
May we continue to witness administrations that build upon the achievements of those before them and leave an even greater legacy for those coming after them.
Above all, may Abia remain united, peaceful, progressive and prosperous.
Congratulations to the government and good people of Abia State.
Happy 35th Anniversary, Abia State!
Happy Abia @ 35!
Long live God’s Own State!
Long live the good people of Abia State!
Long live the Federal Republic of Nigeria!
